About NousCap
The NousCap has been born from a concept, that was first thought of in early 2007, in relation to many instances of the wrong fuel being put into vehicles. The original concept was to make a device that made it impossible to misfuel a vehicle, not a device that reminded you to not misfuel a vehicle, or a device that could be by-passed with the incorrect fuel nozzle in your hand, but a device that ensured a vehicles fuel tank could not be replenished with the wrong fuel.
The logical solution concluded, was to design and make a fuel cap, which could only be removed from a vehicle, if the operator had the correct fuel nozzle in their hand thus preventing the wrong fuel going into the vehicle.
Extensive research was done on the different types and sizes of fuel filler caps and fuel filler necks used on vehicles, to see if there could be a "one fits all" solution to prevent the wrong fuel being used. Although different vehicle manufacturers sometimes used the same fuel filler cap, the fuel filler necks would differ, and sometimes the fuel filler necks differed from model to model within the same manufacturer. The conclusion was there could not be a "one fits all" solution to prevent the wrong fuel being added to a vehicle.
The next stage was to develop a fuel filler cap, with a modular design, which could be adapted to fit any vehicle, and have a mechanism that could be engaged by a fuel pump nozzle. This was deemed the best and easiest way to prevent the wrong fuel being able to enter a vehicles fuel system. Over the next two years various mechanisms were designed, and then went through to prototyping and testing before being rejected. Finally a mechanism that worked successfully was tested on vehicles to make sure it operated correctly and prevented misfuelling from occuring. Over the following six months minor modifications were made to the design of the product and the materials used to improve the performance of the product.
In February 2010 the NousCap was launched onto the market.
The company is constantly looking at the design of the product; it expects to invest heavily in the future in making the NousCap the number one misfuelling prevention device, in the UK and Europe, and eventually globally.
